The temperature in India broke records last week. The new record was set in Phalodi, a city in the desert state of Rajasthan, where temperatures reached an astonishing 51 degrees Celsius.
500 miles to the South in Gujarat, power generation on the Narmada River, downstream of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, is still out of operation since October last year owing to poor rainfall. Water is being conserved for use by domestic customers, commercial customers and agriculture.
