The rain began to fall on Friday 15 April. The Ministry of the Interior and Public Safety reported that 180 millimeters (7 inches) fell in 48 hours in the Andean foothills – 69% of the annual average. The average rainfall in April is just 7.2mm (0.3 inches).
The local water utility Aguas Andinas’ website tells customers whether they have supply or not, and if not where alternative supply points have been set up.
